The Situation: To enhance their green practices and reduce variable operating costs, an HMC operating in drought-stricken California created an eco-incentive program using Stash points.

The Program: For each day guests declined housekeeping services, they earned 100 Stash points.  Not only were guests empowered to help reduce water consumption and conserve energy, they were also rewarded for their choice. With this program, the hotel creatively used Stash points to improve their green practices and reward guests in a non-traditional way.

The side-benefit? The housekeeping team was less-busy. They could prioritize turning over rooms and the hotel didn’t have to pay overtime, or call-in additional housekeeping staff, even during peak times.

The Impact: During this case study, the hotel group was able to reduce their housekeeping expenses by $1,360 by awarding a mere $82 worth of points, for an ROI of 17X. They reinforced their eco-friendly ethos with their guests and conserved thousands of gallons of water.
